You can seal off the edges with a fine line of powder on the hem line. Melt it into the jeans using baking parchment paper or baking paper, same stuff as you use to line a cake tin when you cook. Then peal the paper back and cut the jeans with a sharp pair of scissors. These jeans will look like they are hemmed with no frays whatsoever. Great to seal frayed edges on silky fraying fabrics too. Do in the same way. They do not feel any different but beware ......don't iron the hairline seal with an iron. you will melt the powder back onto your iron unless you really cheat and iron a very fine piece of ribbon on the inside of the denim. Then you can iron them after a laundering. Done this 1000's of times. Great if a child has grown out of their pants and you need that extra length for a bit more wear. Brilliant!!!! **Q: How do you get it to the color desired?** A: It is basically a clear product. You trim off hidden areas of the garment you want to repair, clip the pieces you sneaked from the fabric until they look like fuzz. Use this fuzz ball mixed with a touch of powder and back it with a light patch or stabilizer. **Q: If I use several layers of silicone paper as protection, can I use a patch fabric to bond to leather?** A: We cannot recommend that you use this product on leather in case you mark the skin with your iron. Leather is a skin. However if you are very very careful and use 2or 3 sheets of silicone paper over the top you should be fine. TIP try and use an iron with some paper on a concealed part of the leather if you can, just to test it out. Same for plastic. We do not recommend but use plenty of paper and test on a concealed part of the garment first, just to see if it is going to mark it. **Q: Can this be used on a fabric chair with a frayed hole in the seat?** A: Yes! It would be perfect to repair a hole in the chair. I repaired a joke in my couch with it. I pushed a small piece of light fabric through the joke. Smoothed it out as it may under the joke with a toothpick. I unzipped a cushion and trimmed some fabric off next to the zipper on the inside. I took this fabric and cut it in tiny pieces...almost to threads. I mixed the threds with a little Supermend. Full the hole with enough of the mix to cover the hole. Cover that with a small piece of wax paper. Very small piece, just enough to cover the hole as the wax paper may bleed onto your chair. Cover all that with a pressing cloth and iron it according to directions. It worked well for my couch.
