I've gone long without one--and for my very myopic view, it seemed like it was used primarily for things like heating frozen water pipes at home. Sunny San Diego doesn't seem to have that issue. However, as soon as I had to buy one to try my hand at repairing an extension cord (heat-shrunk and solder seal-wire connectors) due to a rabbit gone-wild, I had to research a good value. I wasn't sure if I would use it often, so I tried to go for a cheap one. Now that I have it, I honestly cannot see what the more expensive ones (say, the ones that cost over double this one) would provide. Moreover, I have actually started seeing things that I can use this at home.
