The size is perfect not too big or small so it can handle all nails easily. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Good Clippers I Would Strongly Recommend. The Casing, Though, Needs Looked at Again by Scholl *by P***C on 30 September 2016* Bought these to replace an almost identical pair of Scholl clippers that I bought around 45 years ago that were just now starting to show signs of blunting. Imagine that, something you buy that actually lasts for 45+ years - good value for money. When I got the clippers out of the package I found it (initially) impossible to slide the clippers out of the plastic nail-catching casing. When I say impossible I mean impossible - I tried for several minutes using full strength and still I couldn't slide the clipper out of the casing. Then I remembered reading a previous review of these clippers where the reviewer complained about the same difficulty. Then I had a brainwave and did the following: 1) Lift the lever that you raise as if for cutting your nails and put it into the position you would use for cutting your nails. 2) Grip the lever really tightly and grip the plastic casing by the *sides*. Don't grip the casing with your fingers on the top and bottom of the casing as doing so just increases the grip the casing has on the clippers. 3) Now, using the lever as a grip point, wiggle the whole nail clipper from side to side while at the same time using a pulling action (as if to pull the clippers out of the casing). You won't be able to wiggle them very far from side to side, but they will wiggle a little bit. I did this for about a minute or so and suddenly the clippers slid out of the casing quite easily. A tiny sliver of plastic also dropped out of the casing as the clippers came out. When I looked inside the casing there are actually two small nibbles of plastic that slot into holes at the base of the clippers. I assume that one of those nibbles had this sliver of plastic attached to it and that this was what was causing the difficulty in getting the clippers out of the casing. 4) After managing to get the clippers out of the casing I was in something of doubting mode to put them back in the casing and see if I could get them out again. However, I slid them back into the casing and found that I could slide them out again without undue difficulty - so it seems that, for some people, this might be an initial difficulty that might be experienced. In any case, now the clippers slide out fairly freely from the casing. To the clippers themselves: First they are sharp (quite a difference from using my old blunt pair). The cutting blades have a slight curve on them (this was what I wanted as my old ones had the same curved blades). The slight curve is very helpful for cutting fingernails on a curve. However, you might think that would make cutting toenails straight across difficult - it doesn't it's easy to cut toenails straight across with the clippers, you just do it one clip at a time (if that makes any sense). The nail-catching casing is, on these clippers, not quite as good as the same casing that my old Scholl clippers had. The clippings sometimes protrude out of the casing and into the blades a little bit (this rarely happened with my old pair). However, in practice this isn't a real problem as it only takes seconds to pull of the casing and empty it. Personally with this pair of clippers (and with my old pair) I don't find it easily possible to clip toenails with the casing in place - so just do that without the casing in place. In all I'm very happy with the clippers, they're sharp and cut well and I would recommend them very much. However, I do think that Scholl need to do something about the nail-catching casing - either they redesign it, find a way of getting rid of the nipples in the bottom of the casing, or they get quality control people in the factory to actually check that every pair of clippers can be removed easily from the casing. On that basis, I only give the product 4 stars. (The clippers themselves I would give 5 stars. And, as things stand now, I don't have a problem with getting the clippers out of the casing.) P.S. On reading other reviews of the product before buying my own pair this problem with getting the clippers out of the casing was only mentioned in one review - from that I take it that this isn't a common problem.
