Review: Cool jelly texture - This hair dye has such unique look and texture compared to other dyes I have tried. The color is really vibrant, pretty pink that stands out without looking patchy. What I really liked was the jelly-like texture , it made it easy to apply evenly on to my hair, and stayed in place without dripping everywhere. It felt smoother to work with than other hair dyes. The color showed up nicely on my hair and gave it a fun pink result! It’s a really cool product if you want a bright pink shade!
Review: Crimson for the win! Neutral ish deep red. - Crimson is my new favorite red hair color. I've been dying my hair for over 20 years. For a long time, I did my own hair and used Punky Color and Manic Panic dyes. Then, for years, I had my hair professionally colored using mostly Special Effects dyes. I love the staying power of SE, but not the bleeding! Adore dyes have pretty good staying power, but only really bleed the first few times getting the hair wet. Now, I am growing it out and instead of spending $$$ on a pro, just keeping up my ends in color. The formula is pretty liquidy like Special Effects and unlike the gels of Punky Color and Manic Panic. This makes a little harder to apply, but not too bad since I am only really working on my ends. Even though my hair is nearly black, if I apply this dye to my roots I get a purply/burgundy sheen on the black parts. I spent a long time choosing a red color and looking at swatches online. Crimson was my first pick and I was very satisfied with the final result. Recently I also picked up Ruby Red and Raging Red to compare/contrast and also to dye some extensions with highlights and lowlights. Crimson is a deep red with pink undertones, but almost neutral when compared to other reds in the range. All three reds I have tested from Adore have cool undertones, but Raging Red is very very cool - I am hoping that the darkness hides a lot of the coolness. None have the very warm and orange undertones of PC/MP colors like Vermillion Red, Pillarbox Red and Wildfire. (I tend to prefer these warmer shades.) I've been doing my hair so long I forget that many people don't know how to get the most out of semi-permanent color (which actually is MORE permanent than permanent dye for me). Here are some tips: 1. Wash before you dye, with a harsh "clarifying" shampoo, or dish soap w/o hand softeners if your hair will tolerate and rinse with warm/hot water. WHY? - this opens up the cuticle where color can be deposited as well as strips out other color and junk. 2. Do not condition before you dye. WHY? - this will close/smooth the cuticle and you don't want to do that until after you color. 3. Apply dye, wrap in plastic to contain moisture and apply heat and leave on for WAY longer than directions say. WHY? - this helps penetrate more color deeper. You want to keep it wet and activated, bc once it's dry, that's pretty much it. (This only applied to semi-permanent non-developer dyes.) 4. Rinse in COLD or lukewarm water. WHY? - to smooth down the cuticle again and keep that color in! If you have ever had a Brazilian Keratin treatment, they do the same think when rinsing it out. 5. Condition only after dying. WHY? - to close/smooth down the cuticle and keep the color in. Personally, I don't protect my hairline with Vasaline because it makes more of a mess for me. I just swab off the color with rubbing alcohol. If you bathtub is stained, bleach and AJAX are your friend. I'll update this review when I dye the extensions. I am also going to mix Ruby and Raging and see if the color tuns out sorta like Crimson.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What does “semi-permanent” hair color mean?**
A: Semi-permanent hair color deposits vibrant pigments onto your hair without altering its natural structure. It adds color, shine, and richness while being gentle and conditioning.

**Q: How long does semi-permanent color last?**
A: Typically 3–6 weeks, depending on hair type, porosity, and washing habits. It gradually fades rather than growing out harshly.

**Q: How is semi-permanent different from demi-permanent hair color?**
A: Semi-Permanent: No ammonia or peroxide. Coats hair & fades with washes. Great for bold, fun, or subtle color shifts. Demi-Permanent: Low peroxide. Slightly penetrates the hair for longer wear. Great for blending, toning, & enhancing natural color.

**Q: Can I lighten my hair with semi-permanent color?**
A: No, semi-permanent color cannot lighten hair. It works best on your current base, or over pre-lightened hair for brighter, more vibrant results.

**Q: Can I mix shades to customize my color?**
A: Yes! Semi-permanent formulas are great for blending shades to create your perfect custom color.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Adore Me Some Adore—Fantasy Hair on a Budget with Indigo Blue Magic
*by P***K on July 6, 2025*

Let me tell you: I’ve been on a personal journey through the rainbow, and Adore has been my trusty sidekick the whole way. I’ve been buying their fantasy colors off Amazon for a couple years now because a) I only dye my money piece, and b) I like to switch it up more than a toddler in a Halloween costume aisle. My most recent adventure? Indigo Blue. This shade is chef’s kiss if you want that deep, ocean-at-midnight vibe. It starts out looking like you stole pigment from Poseidon’s favorite cloak. It is semi-permanent, though, so don’t expect it to cling to your hair like your cat clings to the warm laundry. I got a solid couple of weeks before it started fading into a soft pastel seafoam vibe—not bad, just a different kind of cute. The fade is gentle, not patchy or weird, and it never made me look like I lost a battle with a Smurf. Now, let’s talk consistency. This dye is not watery like those runny nightmares from some other brands. It stays put, which is great when you’re trying to paint your hair, not your bathroom walls. Plus, each bottle is 4oz and you get two—a total steal for under $10 depending on the shade. That’s salon color price on a ramen noodle budget. Here’s my own Adore color lineup: Rich Eggplant, African Violet, Violet Gem, Purple Rage – All queens in their own purple way. Long-lasting, vibrant, and fade like a dreamy pastel. Neon Pink – WARNING: It's so neon you might start glowing like a Vegas sign under a blacklight. Not actually glow-in-the-dark, but close enough. Jet Black – Ehh... the one I wouldn’t recommend. Fades fast and gives a weird greenish cast. Use a true permanent black if you’re going dark-dark. Back to Indigo Blue—while it did fade faster than the purples, I still loved it. The blue washed out beautifully and didn’t stain my bathroom like an abstract art project gone wrong. Oh, and it’s vegan, cruelty-free, and free of ammonia, peroxide, and alcohol, so my money piece stays shiny and happy instead of fried and crunchy. In short: If you’re fantasy-dye curious, broke-ish, non-committal with color, or just a long-time color addict like me—Adore is the move.
