Just one quarter teaspoon of this rubbed on your wet face, then shave with a schick razor . I use a boar bristle brush and shave cream in my shaving prep. I found thsi product to be reasonably priced by comparison. It lathers very well and lubricates to my satisfaction ( I use Harry's razors and have a moderatly heavy beard).For me, the scent is a bit too much. But it is not a deal breaker and I have already ordered another pump bottle of Taconic Shave Cream, only in a different scent.
