## Overview

The MG Chemicals 838AR-P Carbon Conductive Pen delivers a fast-drying, low-resistivity (0.63 Ω·cm) carbon paint in a convenient pen format. Engineered for durability and corrosion resistance, it adheres to a wide range of substrates including plastics, metals, ceramics, and 3D printing materials. Ideal for quick repairs, prototyping, and restoring conductivity in electronics, this pen offers precise application with a valve-tip and squeezable body for controlled flow. A must-have for makers and professionals seeking reliable, economical conductive solutions.

## Description

The 838AR-P Carbon conductive pen is a conductive, fast drying paint in a convenient pen format. It quickly and easily creates conductive traces that are durable, reliable, and corrosion resistant. It adheres To A wide variety of substrates. The paint is a tough acrylic polymer pigmented with high purity Carbon Black. The Carbon Black imparts superior corrosion resistance as well as high conductivity. This product works best on smooth, flat, and hard surfaces. It has a valve tip that opens when the pen is pressed against the surface to be drawn on and it has a soft tube, so the flow may be controlled by squeezing the centre of the pen. It is used to draw resistors and connect grounds in prototyping, hobbies, or Maker projects. It can be used to create traces where a higher resistance connection is desired such as when drawing in jumpers or other simple electrical connections. It is good for restoring conductivity to contact surfaces and extending contact areas. Use It as an economical alternative to nickel or silver paints where extreme conductivity is not required. Attention Shake rigorously before use. For best results hold pen at angle, depress pen tip against surface, and draw pen across surface while gently squeezing middle. Note: Product SafetyThis product is subject to specific safety warnings.Causes serious eye irritation.Highly flammable liquid and vapour.May cause drowsiness or dizziness.Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking.Safety data sheet available on request.Suspected of causing cancer by inhalation.

Review: Excellent to fix broken remote controls - I had a few remote controls where most of the keys stopped working due to the carbon wearing off the membrane pads and not making sufficient contact with the PCB. Putting a blob of this carbon compound on the carbon pads of the membrane fixed the problem entirely. A few tips; - wear gloves, this stuff is messy and carcinogenic - shake the pen for 30s - use a sheet of paper to clean the nib - make sure the surface is clean, IPA+cotton bud - leave for 24 hours for conductivity and strength
Review: Amiga all better now. :) - I had no idea this sort of product existed but I'm so glad it does. I recently decided to dig out my old Commodore Amiga A500 and noticed a line of keys wasn't working (F2, 3, E, D, C). A bit of online searching and 'YouTubing' suggested corrosion on the keyboard membrane and, more importantly, how to fix it with a product like this. Thankfully, I discovered I only had a tiny bit of corrosion along one of the lines shared by these keys, and it was literally a simple matter of scratching out the corrosion and 'dabbing' over with this pen to reconnect the line. I am a complete novice at hardware repairs so I was thrilled that it worked and my Amiga is as good as new. I will just say that the pen behaves like an ink gel pen and the carbon can be a bit 'blobby' when it comes out, so be aware if using on small crowded circuits. But it's a great, simple-to-use product that has already paid for itself. Oh, and much Kudos to the seller for getting it to me so quickly...you made my day.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: would this be suitable for repairing a car heated rear window after a tab has broken off?**
A: I very much doubt it, it is more like ink that has conductive properties when dry but no physical strength.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great

Great, comes out a little thick though. Not Great for micro soldered pads. Have to squeeze with 2 hands as well, it's pretty tough.
