The way to receive additional build pieces would be to purchase another Tinkertoy kit. There are several for sale on Amazon and are all compatible with each other. Is says classic but the classic ones were wood and those are the ones we want,redesigned or not these are not classic!** A: Hi there, this is the customer service team at Knex/Basic Fun. Knex began manufacturing Tinker Toys around 2008/2009. After extensive market research, the Tinker Toys were redesigned with improvements including a specific design made easier to snap & stay together. The scale was changed since the originals but not enough to make it impossible to snap into the older Tinker Toys. They are similar in size (the old to the new) so in some cases, the snap will work well and in some cases, it will not work well. Hope this helps you. All Tinker Toys are made in the USA. Regarding the "wood" version. Knex did produce some wood based kits in 2008 as well but then stopped manufacturing in wood due to some issues.
