We had to take down a 6 year old tulip poplar in our yard that had some kind of rot issue on its main trunk, and except for the main trunk of the tree, this chipper took care of all of the rest of the branches, no issues. We did find we had to strip the green leaves off of the branches, or they clogged up the chute, but other than that, it just ate right through the branches and made excellent chip that I added to the compost pile. The bag seems like an attachment that you wouldn't use, but it actually works great to collect the chip, so it is easy to put where you want it. Or you can skip the bag and chip directly wherever you want. The bag also fits over the top of the chipper when you store it , so it acts like its own personal tarp. The chipper is lightweight and easy to move around. You do have to make sure the body shroud is screwed down tight after clearing a clog - the chipper won't work until it's totally tightened down - we know this because once after clearing a clog (the green leaves of the poplar) we thought it was broken, but it was just the shroud needed a few more turns on the nut to get it tight. This is a great little machine and does the job that you're about to do. However, consider it's for small jobs ie...shubs, rose bushes, small trees etc. It's pretty loud when utilizing it. Storage has to fit the location once Assembled.
