glad I got this & didn’t give up on it
My first epilating was with the attachment for the Iluminage Touch, which was AWFUL. (My natural hair color is strawberry blonde, so for it to actually work I needed to wax or epilate. I am absolutely terrible at waxing and it is so messy). Epilating is pretty much foolproof and not messy. After a handful of tries with the Iluminage attachment and getting frustrated, I did some online recon and got this one. Actually wishing I got the more expensive one with the swivel head, but I didn’t want to invest that kind of money on something I was worried I might abandon. This was immediately a million times better than a ‘cheap’ crappy epilatorHowever, no way around it, your first time is going to HURT LIKE A MF-ER imo not *so* bad that you’ll be like “nope, never again”But it hurts a surprising amount. Even if you’re expecting pain, it is still a surprising amount of pain. It’s extremely brief though, such an odd sensation. After a very small patch it’s like JFC I gotta stop. But then within minutes you’re like, well nothing hurts so let’s try again <repeat>Down closer to the ankles hurts the most as far as legs go. Armpits hurt the most overall for me. Even more than the bikini line. Heck, my ankle area hurt more than the bikini line (specifically on the thighs. I haven’t braved much of the nether region yet).I did brave my rump cheeks though :’) and that was a breeze surprisingly enough!I see why butt tattoos are popular, they probably hurt way less than the one I got.Eventually when the hair grows back, it is DRAMATICALLY easier ^_^Some spots it did kinda feel like a spicy electric razor; honestly I think those were hairs the Iluminage broke off instead of actually pulled out, so it was their “first time” but they were few and spaced out which makes all the difference.Just don’t try to do this if you have any fast approaching deadline, you will *definitely* need to take your time with it.I chipped away at 1 leg over the course of days. Then the next leg over a few days. My first armpit took WEEKS to get 100% done. What I’ve learned from my left armpit, if you’re especially patient and also extremely sensitive to pain, if you shave first and then just do a little as it starts to grow back enough, shave the rest of the area and repeat over and over again - that’s gotta be the most you can reduce the pain. Since the hairs grow back at different speeds, you aren’t getting the full brunt of ALL of them being ripped out at once. That’s going to take ages if you’re doing your whole body that way, and I don’t have that kind of patience and I didn’t find it overwhelmingly painful. Just had to take a lot of breaks, a lot of “calling it a day” and just keeping at it daily until it was all done. Now that THAT phase is over, I wish I discovered this years ago!! I would get horrible razor burn on my upper thighs, that would last until the stubble was back. I never wore shorts, hated swimming even with the bathing suits that have the little skirt. There was the little red dots the first time epilating, but it cleared up in about 24 hours, and each time epilating the little red dots got less and less and cleared up faster.I have hyperpigmentation in my armpits and inner upper thigh area, and already noticing that starting to get better! Surprising perk. There have been a few ingrown hairs but not any gross painful ones, and that’s probably my fault for not having a quality exfoliating scrub or a dry brush when I started this.I strongly disliked how shaving made my showers take longer, wasting water, wasting time. I’m also trying to get nice, split-end-free hair and taking a faster shower helps with that.So pro tips from my journey with this, get a decent dry brush and use it on your non-shower days, followed up with a gentle moisturizer. On your shower days, use a quality scrub like any of the popular ones at Sephora. They’re worth the money, the cheaper ones don’t hold a candle to sol de Janeiro bum bum body scrub, KP bump eraser, etc. And again moisturizing after the shower. My legs and armpits are smoother than ever and stay that way for sooo long. It’s still really trippy. 10/10 better than shaving or waxing :D

Works well. Don't need the extra attachments. Could have saved money.
Good tool for hair removal. Charged before use and got 52minutes of solid run time before the device slow powered... 3 minutes on low power. 25minutes per leg with armpits. A couple passes to be sure it was all gone and done! I prefer dry use after body brushing-- it seems more accurate, less time, yet, slightly less tolerable.First use is dramatic, I let my hair grow out from a wax and hair was fine- yet, in full. A new sensation and borderline painful (but tolerable).Maintenance is easier and only requires about 5minutes per leg- I use it every other day for touch ups.It does leave behind a couple stragglers but much better than shaving and, not very noticeable because my hair grows fine compared to shaved legs. Used only in bikini, legs, and axill area. Bikini area is painful. And in my opinion, better to use with a solid thong as the guide while applying a stretching pressure to the area. Was able to get a lot this way, but I recommend a Brazilian first- then, maintenance with this. Of course laser would be the best.I don't use any of the guards and would have paid less for just the trimmer and the epilator-- without all the other attachments had I seen that as an option. So I paid $149 for the epil 9 but theEpil 7 with trimmer and zero attachments for $80 is similar technology with less attachments. Also, be careful with the trimmer. My friend recommended this product as she uses it on her chin... without a Gaurd.

Best investment I’ve ever made
I just love this product. I’ve been using it for 2 years and it’s so easy. After the first few sessions it’s been pain free. In beginning the key is to take it slow and do it on one small section at a time. Pulse it and repeat over each section so it’s not taking out too much hair at one pass. It will take a long time at that rate but it’s worth it and will take much less time once you’re used to it. I won’t lie, it is painful in the beginning but that’s because skin at first is so tender. You learn to tolerate and eventually it’s no more of a feel than using a tweezer on your facial hair. Make sure to pull skin taught especially around back of knees and top of thighs. This avoids getting razor burn which is not fun. I started by lying on my back with legs in air to keep the blood flow to legs at a minimum, lying on a towel of course! After each use I follow up with Tend Skin for razor bumps which eases any discomfort. Some say warm water beforehand to soften the skin helps, others say ice it to cool the skin before and/or after. Either way worked for me. After the first several times doing my whole legs, hair grew back more slowly, less dense and coarse, much thinner and softer. As hair grows in cycles, you’ll always have some hair growing but since it’s so soft you can barely see it or feel it. It’s just like the hair on your arms. For maintenance it takes me about 20 min every 2 weeks. Now that my skin is used to it, I take the cover off the unit and use it on my bare skin to get more hair at a time which gives a smoother, quicker result. The savings from having to buy those expensive razor blades alone makes it worth it. Plus, since I have KP it’s virtually pain free compared to shaving. It’s even better after reducing the KP bumps using cream or lotion with 12-15% lactic acid (eg Amlactin, Perrigo Ammonium, etc). Be patient and stick to it and you’ll see wonderful results. Can’t tell you how wonderful it is to wake up to smooth legs and never having to shave before swimming. Would recommend this great product to anyone. ☺️
