No fuss baby monitor after two years, and still going strong!
I bought this CasaCam BM200 baby monitor back in Nov 2018, so this review (as of Sep 2020) is almost two years from that purchase. I already had a Dropcam (which later they changed names to Nest Cam) that was wifi/subscription based and provided what we thought we only needed for three years prior to this 2018 purchase (back in 2015 - confusing non-important information I know!) Then we had a series of internet outages one Fall, so we had to supplement the IP camera. So, my wife and I decided to have a "back-up" camera in place, just in case the internet goes out and we still needed to hear and see our son during the night. With an IP cam, when internet goes out from the ISP, you're screwed. We have a kid that would consistently wake up two hours after going down, and either call out to us or just stay up and play with his lovies after he turned 2, so we had to start tracking his sleep every night. At the time, we didn't know he had sleep apnea, but many sleep studies later, we found this to be true (I digress). So in our situation, having access to audio and visual aspects of his sleep were crucial for logs we would provide his sleep doctor, as well as more importantly, his general safety. Having CasaCam not be IP based and able to run on back-up battery (if needed) was a lifesaver for us.Camera Review: tilts around (up, down, side to side) enough that when I place it high enough, I can see where he might be at any place in his room. Night Vision is good enough, but not 1080p nor would you really need it to be that or higher clarity. Color (when lights are on) is average, but I'm not using this for any kind of recording since this wasn't its purpose. Remember, great back-up camera! I have since got a 2nd camera (available for separate purchase on Amazon) for our 2nd kid's nursery and the quality is still consistent from both cameras with respect to audio and visual.Monitor Review: you can play music (never have) and adjust sound settings quite easily. Like mentioned for the camera review, panning around the room is quite easy and not too loud from the camera side. I have a 4200 sq home and we pretty much have had no issue with the monitor being downstairs in our Master bedroom "reaching" both cameras upstairs for my two kids rooms. The monitor can have both our cameras (up to 4 views/cameras) up at once (with no sound), or just each one individually with sound, or rotate between camera views with sound as well - very convenient. Battery life of monitor has been average (can run for a couple hours before needing to be placed on it's dock for recharging while still viewing if needed) but we only use it at night on battery alone for not that much time to begin with, so this hasn't been a concern for us. So it's lasted quite a while now. I had an Infant Optics Camera that I bought here previously from Amazon, and I had to constantly replace their ridiculously lousy battery in the monitor often. CasaCam BM200 replaced that crappy camera from Infant Optics!Bottomline, this CasaCam BM200 is good for people that want a back-up camera, or want one that can't be hacked (due to no internet connection). It doesn't record anything, but we don't need it for that at all. Definitely recommend CasaCam BM200 over the competition for price point and reliability due to no frills. Thanks for easing our minds with a cost effective and quality product, CasaCam! -JD

First Impressions are Very Good. Long term use- Still Good.
The media could not be loaded. We purchased this and two additional cameras after our 7 year old Multi-camera system from Motorola Died its final death.I researched multiple other cameras, both from Major manufacturers, and from online only companies such as CasaCam. We needed 3 cameras, the ability to completely mute the screen unit. I liked how the CasaCam runs off USB power, which made it easy to provide additional charge locations with extra old Phone chargers and Micro USB cords.CasaCam didn't provide a ton of product images, or user manuals available before we purchased the unit so I shared them here in this review.Initial impressions are very good. The build quality seems to be very good on the control unit, and the cameras. I was originally against the wall mount pedestal but it actually works well and provides both horizontal and vertical mount hooks. We didn't use the included wall anchors and instead used 3M COMMAND picture hangers. The bundled camera comes pre-synced. The two others synced very quickly after following the simple instructions.Video and audio quality seems to be very high. It does appear to be about a 1 Second delay from what happens and what is shown on the screen. This isn't an issue as its minimal, but if you snap your fingers you'll notice it.VOX mode lets you "sleep" the screen unit, and have it automatically wake to whichever camera detects sounds. Initial tests show it does NOT wake up to noise machines, or subtle sounds. It will require longer testing to see what other ambient sounds wake it up. But there is a Low and High mode which I'm assuming adjusts the sensitivity.CONS: The full touch screen control unit has only one button. The Sleep/Wake/Power button. I kind of wish it had real buttons for at least the volume control. Without Volume buttons, you need to wake the screen, then tap it to show the volume buttons. This isn't a deal breaker, but something to be aware of. Also, there is a SLIGHT load screen when you switch between cameras, or flip to the multi-camera view. This isn't a deal breaker yet, but we will see how it fairs in regular use. One other thing to note is it does seem like we need to prop the antenna up on the screen unit for all cameras to connect more quickly. Will need to try it outside from back yard and basement as well and update.Overall first impressions are very good, and I hope we get a long life out of this new setup. I will report back after a few days of use.UPDATE: 10 Months later.Overall the casacam system has worked well for us. The two biggest complaints I have are no dedicated volume buttons (requires tapping the screen and ensuring you dont tap it too many times to the wrong menu) and the time it takes to wake and switch/reconnect to the live camera (we have 3 cameras). At the end of the day these are not deal breakers, but it wears on you day after day. The quality is excellent, the multi camera support is good. The Range has been FINE.. but we haven't tried walking out side yet. And the price was good.

AMAZING MONITOR!
When we were expecting our fourth child, it was time to upgrade our baby monitor system. We were happy enough with our Summer Infant unit but we needed additional cameras as we'd now have to monitor four children. We did a ton of research before buying, and ultimately decided on the Casacam Bm200, buying two additional cameras.I am incredibly happy with this baby monitor, and all of the research we did really paid off. The screen is big and I can easily see all three rooms (two of our kids share a room). The battery life and range are great; I have owned our unit for over a year now and I have not had any issues or concerns with battery life or range. In fact, there's an antenna on the monitor tjay you can life up to get even farther range but I didn't even know it was there for months and months, and I've never had to use it in our almost 3,000 sq ft home. The picture is very clear, and there are lots of great features like being able to talk through the monitor to our children and see the temperature in the room (plus more like lullabies and a nightlight which we don't actually use but would be handy if needed). My absolute favourite feature is the VOX. It has been such an incredible feature for us. With our previous monitor which had two cameras paired to it, the sound and video would alternate from room to room, switching every 10 seconds or so. This was fine enough but there were times when I was awaken in the night by a cry and, as I fumbled to look at the screen to see who was crying, the sound/video would switch to the other room. I'd be frantically trying to switch back to the other room to see/hear what was going on. With the Casacam, I leave it in the VOX setting at night so the screen and sound are both "off" but the unit switches on (video and sound) if sound is detected. So, I'll wake up to a sound, look at the monitor, and see exactly who is crying without having to fumble with the unit. This is an incredible feature!!There are lots of options for using the unit besides the VOX setting. For example, before the kids fall asleep at night, I usually have the monitor showing all cameras with sound on one room or rotating through all of them so I can see if someone sneaks out of bed. When only baby is napping during the day, I have the screen remain on in his room with sound so I can monitor just him the whole time. I just love the versatility of this unit.I had to contact Casacam customer service and they are very, very prompt at replying, and so helpful. They answered my questions and sent me screenshots with step by step instructions for what I had enquired about.I couldn't be happier with this unit and I recommend it to all of my friends, whether they plan on having just one camera or more.
