I have assembled it and handled it and I am very impressed. I bought two of these as gifts and someone is not getting one, I'm keeping it. I was most impressed with the quality of the reel although the whole assembly worked as advertised. The gold is a beautiful color. This rod is small enough to ice fish with and rugged enough for perch size fish. Now be aware that this is advertised as "pen" shaped. I assumed that meant it was "pen" size. Wrong, It is about ten inches long. The reel is separate from the rod and really couldn't be considered a pocket item. The whole unit is a novelty item which should actually work. I believe one of the best uses for this rood and reel would be to mount it on a plaque for your favorite fisherman or present as an award for a fishing related event.
