They're thinner than the 3M branded kind, in that it's not a sandwich of fabric-esque layers. Fits my face nicely and works well to filter out the drywall sanding dust. When it gets clogged up, it is pretty hard to breath, so need to replace them fairly often when performing heavy sanding on drywall. Also used them for some crawlspace fiberglass insulation replacement and they worked equally as well for that.
