A good fit is really important as you need the gel cushion in an exact spot on the foot. It would fit like any sock that is too big, usually resulting in the heel not being in the proper place. **Q: Would this be recommended for kids that play soccer and and complains the back of heel hurts ?** A: I would say yes. I'm no doctor by any means. I did a lot of research on how to relive heel pain for my 10 yr old son. He complained he had a lot of heel pain while practicing and playing football. Since we have purchased these he has not complained at all. We also purchased the kid sole heel cups and use them in the cleats as well as wearing the socks. **Q: are they waterproof? Thank you.** A: No, they are just like a sock. Feel great and really helps with plantar fascitis. **Q: Can these be washed and dried in regular load of laundry or should they be washed by hand?** A: I recommend washing by hand. I put them in the laundry and the thread started to unravel.
