Flexcolor 3D grout destroys them.** A: I added it to paint and no sign of glitter, it did make my wall rough to the touch **Q: What is this glitter made from? Polyester? Nylon?** A: No clue...I will say it looks fantastic. Used 4 packages to every 10lbs of grout. **Q: Can this be mixed into thinset?** A: I wouldn't. Not because it would cause 'problems' but because you won't be able to really see it. I did alot of research and sought out advice concerning use of glitter additives..whether for paint or for grout... if you really want to have the glitter effect you need to use the minimal amount possible of whatever you are mixing it into. If you are wanting to mix it with thin set and expecting to have the glitter be visible... the 'glitter effect' result would be minimal at best. Better approach/method would be to apply glitter on top of thinset while it is still wet (an 'apply as you go' method) and utilize a small piece of a DAMP moistened sponge of which you dip into the glitter and then use to lightly press into the thinset , or some utilize a small make up brush. Personally I think a sponge works better.... Again. it kinda depends on how much of a glitter effect you are trying to obtain...if you really wnat to see it...it has to be applied to the top and not mixed into. Think of mixing up a blue berry muffin mix... or making chocolate chip cookies with the tiny chips.... the blueberries in a muffin mix get coated with the batter...barely visible...the chocolate chips get coated with the cookie batter..... glitter is the same way... it isn't as of the glitter repels the paint or the grout or whatever else one is trying to mix it in with. The only thing one can safely mix glitter into and get the full glitter effect are situations when one is utilizing a clear epoxy resin or clear liquid polyurethane and acrylic. But it’s definitely sparkly when you’re walking past. Not too sparkly.
