The floating plates allow for a smooth heat application without any snagging. Creates smooth frizz free hair. As with any heat styling application it is highly recommended to use a heat protectant spray or serum to prevent the hair from burning and getting damaged, especially if you use heat on a regular basis like I do. So far this flat iron works as advertised, it has some really nice features including a locking button to lock the plates together, also it comes with a couple of accessories with purchase. Based off my limited use of this product I am pleased with this purchase. I have no complaints so far. I do recommend this product if you are on the fence and need a reasonably priced flat iron. It comes in several colors. I chose the purple one. I just received it, so I can not attest to its longevity with regular use. However, it does have a warranty you can purchase.
