I do believe that statins cause more harm than good. My sister-in-law went on it and she quickly developed type 2 diabetes. My ex-husband has been on one for years, and he has terrible dementia and muscle wasting from them at age 68.So I tried red rice yeast and one time was enough to know that it isn't good for the body. Since it depletes Co Q 10, it must be a hardship on the body. I did some more research online and came across Policosanol. I read all the reviews and decided on Purethentic Naturals brand. I bought it along with a few other new supplements several months ago. I tried the other supplements first, since I wanted to see if my body could tolerate each well. Then yesterday I tried the Policosanol. I was fine until about 4 hours later when I started to get a dry patch of mucus in my throat. I had a hard time coughing it up. Then I started to get a burning, funny taste on my tongue and the inside of my nostrils were slightly burning. I looked at my tongue in the mirror, and it was red and raw. I suspected that it might be from the Policosanol, so I immediately went on line to see possible side effects. Most of the sites had side effects that didn't match mine, but a few mentioned the burning in the nose and mouth.Since I am sensitive to drugs and supplements, I am no longer going to take this. Again this wasn't a severe reaction, I don't want to put people off from trying this brand or supplement. The research that I read said that .31% of people in the study had reactions to it- that's less than 1%! I just fall into that category. Lucky me! If it had had no side effects I would still be taking it! Good luck to everyone!
