The room is now very much warmer than before, reaching 22 - 23 degrees celsius with the fire on about a third to half power. This is significantly greater than my previous fire could manage on FULL power. The Flavel Strata looks functional in an unpretentious way and is not ornamented and 'tacky' in the way that some cheaper gas fires are. Radiant gas fires are not especially 'fashionable' nowadays - but they are efficient! This one does the job for which it is designed very effectively indeed, with a lower purchase cost, lower running costs and less maintenance than most alternatives.
