Because it is made of stainless steel, it has weight and heft comparable to a live karambit. Because it is blunt, I can safely practice all of my techniques without fear of unintentional knicks and pokes perforating my flesh. This allows me to periodically go full speed on solo drills, thereby examining my progress. It has been an excellent purchase for the price, and I will likely purchase more.
