I'd debated between these and another set that did not have adjustable straps. SO glad I spent the extra $10 and got the adjustable straps. They make it so easy to go from sitting to laying flat, and every position inbetween. They are also sized perfectly. Both plus sized and little skinny family members are comfortable in the chairs. Using the straps, you can also tie yourself to a boat or dock so you can nap in the water without worrying about floating away. As for air retention, I blew them up a few days ago and they are still full of air. These chair floats are awesome and I'm so happy with them.
