They are a bit on the heavy side, which is also a good thing for chairs that are as thin as these ones. They are sturdy, and have no problem supporting substantial weight (my friend who weighs 240 lbs. said they did not budge or feel like they were going to come apart). One thing that is not shown in any of the pics is that they arrive with transparent plastic end caps that cover a portion of the seat slate closest to the back supports, and I'm not sure if they are there to protect the chair during shipping or if they are meant to stay on the chair permanently to protect the pain finish as the chair is folded/unfolded (they were no instructions to remove them in the package). The reason I am giving this otherwise very nice chair only 3 stars is that both chairs arrived with partially missing plastic tip inserts for the legs, which appear to have broken off and lost during shipping. Because of this, both chairs are unstable and rock when you sit on them. The missing plastic tips go into a tiny hole at the end of the legs, so they are not the common type of end caps that could be easily bought and replaced, and I have no way of knowing where to get them or even if they exist for this type of chairs (searching through Amazon has not yielded any results).
