Instead, it appears to be a general incompatibility with the analog bell or trimline telephones, where for some reason this headset is not always electrically compatible. Vendor suggested I then purchase and try the "Arama Smart Cord Headset Cable 8 Tap Position" product at the link below. Sure enough, 1 of the 8 settings works terrific with my phone now (maybe the other 7 settings work for various other phones). Microphone voice quality is perfectly received to the people on other end of the conversation, so I will improve my Amazon rating score here. In future, let me suggest that Arama automatically includes this 8-position smart cord adapter with each headset, because there are SO MANY phone models out there, it just saves a lot of hassle/guesswork by the buyer, and vendor, having to waste time figuring out if headset is defective or not. It would be worth raising the price another $10 on headset, if vendor could confidently speak to more widespread phone compatibility. When people travel, they never know what phone they might encounter, so it would be helpful to have the smart cord readily available. Had this smart cord adapter been included originally, it would have saved me and vendor 3 weeks of hassle from this experience. Works great now though, so I am pleased I can now use the headset. First, the designers should have extended the length of the microphone boom by 1 or 2 inches, because it cannot easily wrap around to face directly in front of your mouth when speaking - it is too short. Secondly, while I can hear people just fine and it has a nice volume control, the quality of the microphone is unacceptable, as multiple people have complained my voice is too quiet, when using the headset. Even when speaking directly into the mic, they tell me it sounds like I am standing 6 feet away from the phone and it is struggle for them to hear. There is no gain function or volume to boost the microphone performance on this headset that I can see. At this point, I am not sure if this is a single defect headset, or if all headsets of this brand will have poor mic performance. Unless vendor gives advice to me, I think I will return it, and look for completely different brand, as my first problem would be overcome, especially if the mic had good audio sensitivity, but unfortunately it does not. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Very good headset, makes work much easier *by S***B on Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2018* This headset really helped me with my at home job. My previous headset was only one sided and I had multiple complaints of speaking too quietly even when I was nearly eating the microphone.
