Such branches will, however, be thin enough to succumb to a good lopper such as the incomparably good Fiskars PowerGear X. The lesson is to keep the chain saw for branches that really need the chain saw, i.e. think and rigid ones! - You must buy a litre of Bosch chain saw oil as the amount given with he saw is a tiny bottle. Overall, though, my trust in Bosch as a solid company has only grown with this purchase. The harness attachment to the shaft broke at first use (as did the one to my hedge trimmer I bought from Bosch a few years ago). Clearly a design issue that has not been addressed in years. They sent a new one without hassle and within a very short time. No hard feelings. The saw cuts through fairly thick branches but you can only change the angle of cutting but you can’t rotate the head to cut horizontally. That’s an issue if you try to cut vertical branches like of a hedge.
