Welded mount to vane prevents extension *by H***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2018* There are three things I looked for when getting the lab weathervane.I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars.I wanted metalI wanted the lab to look like a lab.There are great weathervanes for over 400 dollars. Not for me.There are lots of copper/metal weathervanes where I just don't like the look of the dog. They call it a lab, but it could be a Golden or some other dog.This one looks nice. A black lab with nice detail.The price is great and it has nice touches with the brass globes.What I don't like is that the base is welded to the vane. I wanted to add an extension rod to the base so that I could display it on a stand till I mounted it.The weathervane extension has a screw in male end. And, all the weathervanes I looked at had a removable roof attachment to insert this attachment.And, this weather vane came with instructions that notes the roof attachment could be removed.But, it can't be removed.
