The dinosaur images on the pencils are not painted on. The pencils are covered in a thin plastic sheath that crinkles up and cracks with light use. I was putting the toppers on the pencils to use as party favors and even the slight motion of pushing the pencil up into the topper caused damage to the sheath making them unusable as favors. If I had more time before the party I would return these. As it is, I am keeping the toppers and going to purchase some pencils locally.
