Sanded them down which worked but every now and then I would basically have to prime the pump to get it to work. So I bought these and everything works flawlessly again. I removed the pump and the motor worked fine so I ordered this kit. It works fine now and is easy to install.I called the pump manufacturer to order just the gears and they told me someone else handled parts for the RV fuel station pumps, they gave me a name and number. I called them and they wanted about twice what I paid on Amazon and that was not including shipping. Also the manufacturer parts lists show different parts numbers for different years but the guy I spoke with on the phone was telling me "this is the newest one, it'll work".
