I bought a Hammer Ripd and recently a Hammer Black Widow Black and Gold based on reviews and reports of these ball's ability to aggressively hook. I'm a straight-role bowler and just could not get ANY ball to hook .... not even these two. I had my local pro drill the balls for the most aggressive hook possible and guess what? Nothing .... rolled dead straight. So, I bought the Mongoose Optimum Wrist Support and positioner. Now, EVERY ball hooks, even my totally neutral Hammer Black Widow Spare ball.Even though I've got to relearn and practice, practice, praciticw while wearing the Mongoose, I could not be MORE DELIGHTED! It is much easier to dial things down than to try to fix the impossible! Like many, I didn't know how to hook or understand how the ball should come off my hand. I went through a few wrist devices but, in the end, they felt too restrictive. When I came across the Mongoose, it was a wholly different experience. I like how the brace actually molded itself to the shape my hand, versus the device forcing me into an uncomfortable feel (Storm C4, I'm talking to you).As I got better, I was able to bowl without the finger & palm straps, thanks to the Mongoose helping me develop my finger strength and helping me to begin to understand how the ball should feel when I bowl.Today, I don't use it but, in regards to my game, it was one of my better purchases. In fact, I bought one for my wife. I was having trouble with consistency with my release and this has straightened me out. I am bowling in a challenging house where they use a lot of oil, this means very little forgiveness. Any miss of the mark = no strike. I put this on and after a day of practice, my games started become much more consistent. It forced me keep my wrist straight and the way your fingers strap in it also is teaching me how to lift the ball properly. I bowl without it from time to time to see if that memory is sticking, which it is. This device will definitely improve your game.
