For that difference in size and weight it runs maybe 10 minutes longer. So I opted for the 4 amp hour battery. Hopefully, Ryobi will make their prices more competitive though. They used to be the more affordable option on the market but now seem to be just as expensive as the other big brands. FWI do not leave your battery plugged into the charger after it is charged. That will hurt the battery. When the battery is fully charged, disconnect the battery from the charger and place it in a room that is climate-controlled. If the battery is left in a shed or a garage that is exposed to extremely cold and warm temperatures, it will shorten the lifespan of the battery. I have 3 of the 40 volt, 4 amp batteries and they have lasted over a year so far with very little degradation. I always keep them indoors when not in use and never leave them on the charger once they are fully charged. Keep in mind that even if you unplug the charger from the wall you still should disconnect the battery from the charger as the circuit board in the battery can start to miss-calculate how much energy is in the battery.
