Manufacturer says you can wear these anywhere, including swimming, and since everything except the leather covering looks to be man-made, they may be ok for that, but even though I am a fisherman I don't think I will wear them in the water, just in case, but they will be very comfortable to wear on the boat for extended periods. Getting them wet in the rain, etc., is probably ok if you let them dry soon after. Only minor drawback is the slightly "hokey" rubber "FASHION" label on the top front of the sandal as another reviewer pointed out, kind of cheapens the look of an otherwise classy looking sandal. Can probably remove as that reviewer did, but that would leave holes where the stitching held the label, so don't know which is worse looking - matter of personal taste. These are exactly as shown in the photos on the desertcart web-site. Plan to wear for a while and make sure they hold up, I see no reason at initial inspection why they would not, and then probably buy another pair in a different color. In fact, the description is correct: the upper face of these sandals seems to be made of leather. They look nice, kinda stylish. They are comfortable and fit well since the back trap is adjustable. The sole is flexible with excellent arch support and thick enough to prevent any discomfort when walking on rough ground. Toes are well protected. Update on Aug 2, 2025: the pair I purchased in July 2024 is still in good shape. No complaints. I did not use them in water, while fishing or hiking; only for street use. They hold up well and are still comfortable. I just purchased a second pair to use while away, at my second home. They arrived in reasonably good shape and rebounded promptly. Their size is correct; they fit my somewhat wide feet.
