Hello Diane, The peas are shipped to Asia because they are primarily used in making noodles. The pea protein is a byproduct of this process and the demand for the noodle material is much higher than the protein in Asia. Our protein is tested at least 3 times before it is ever packaged so are very confident in its quality. I have read a lot about brown rice having that.** A: It's 100% pea protein, not brown rice. **Q: The label says there is 15mg of Cholesterol per serving! Where is the Cholesterol coming from?** A: I contacted Naked Nutrition directly. They responded stating that the first labels were imprinted incorrectly. The new labels have been changed to show zero cholesterol. There is only one ingredient in their pea protein and that is peas. It is vegan. I bought the unflavoured version so can't speak to the flavoured kinds, but taste is what you expect for a pea based protein powder: it tastes kind of like peas, though bland, and is certainly tolerable/not offensive. I tend to drink mine straight with water daily, though added it to granola recently and it didn't affect flavour. It mixes decently with water though I find it can leave some clumping at bottom of water glass when mixed with a spoon alone. I started using a coffee frother recently and now tends to dissolve fully (would recommend buying one if taking straight with water). Great that it is one ingredient and Informed Choice Certified.
