Unfortunately uou have to use their balls ONLY! Metal bats work great! **Q: Can you hit these with a plastic or foam bat? Is aluminum better?** A: Plastic bat would be better. This is definitely a beginner pitcher. More for todlers. The balls are soft. I bought this for my 5yo and he outgrew it in about 2 months.
