## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the dilution rate? 1 oz. per gallon? 2? 3? 4? I want to use the Ortho Dial 'N Spray sprayer for better control.**
A: If you want to mix this product in a pump type sprayer it would be around 10oz per gallon which will cover 1,000sf. I got these numbers following the recommended application rate of the Propriconazole 14.3% which is 2oz per gallon for 1,000sf. Since this product has 2.42% Propriconazole it would take over 10oz per gallon to match that rate. And this would be the preventative rate, curative rate would be double.

**Q: Will this kill mushrooms?**
A: Some mushrooms are great and a sign of very healthy soil. If you only see these mushrooms when you have had a lot of rain and moisture in the soil, and they go away after the soil dries out, that's a good thing. If there are others, you may with to kill them. People are going to freak out when I say this, but bleach will help. I used to do professional roof cleaning and although cleaning the bacteria off a roof to clean it was tedious, the biggest risk was harming the plants and landscaping below. That was because the most cost effective solution was liquid bleach which is NaOCl, or sodium, chlorine and an extra oxygen molecule. Once the chemical reaction is done, you're left with NaCl, or sodium chloride, AKA, salt, or table salt. Salt will kill plants. Liquid bleach is not the only bleach. Powdered bleach is made from calcium chloride, and once the chemical reaction is done, you're left with calcium chloride, which is a nutrient plants crave. As a test, I sprayed a 4% liquid bleach solution over a 10x10 ft. square with no steps to protect the sprayed area, and it killed the entire area. I sprayed a 4% powdered bleach solution next to it in another 10x10 ft. area, and a small percentage of the blades showed some browning. After one mowing, it was all back and fine. Why? The powdered bleach solution didn't leave salt behind to kill the plant. The browning was due to the powdered bleach sanitizing the bacteria in the soil. Bacteria are what feed the roots of plants to facilitate the transfer of nutrients into the roots. Kill that bacteria, and the plant starves. These anaerobic bacteria replenish quickly, which is why the browning was temporary and the grass survived. That was a 4% powdered bleach solution. You could probably get the job done with a 1-2% mix. Get some powdered bleach and mix it at 1 ounce per gallon of water and that will be pretty close to 1% bleach. 2 ounces is 2%, etc. Measure by volume, not weight...keep it simple. Spray a section around the mushrooms and do not be heavy handed. I cleaned roofs with a 5.5 gallon per minute pump and a large orifice spray tip and it doesn't clog. Powdered bleach may clog up a typical pump up sprayer as it is small and low flow, so you may wish to agitate the mix, and pour off the top or run it through some kind of filter such as a sock to keep the more solid parts from getting into the tank. When you're done, flush the tank a few times to make sure you're not leaving any powdered bleach in the pump and hose. You also may want to do a soil test and check the pH of your soil. That may also effect fungal growth. pH can also effect moss growth. But as I said and others, often mushrooms are good in a lawn, so if they only grow during periods of high moisture and go away as the weather dries out, it may just be a sign of fertile soil. I often put down Milorganite for additional organic matter in my soil, and when I get a lot of rain, I'll get mushrooms popping up. Once the weather shifts, they go away. It's just a sign that my soil is healthy and fertile. You could also contact your local extension office for advice.

**Q: Can I spray when temps are above 90 degrees?**
A: Directions specifically mention that you shouldn't. Could ruin/kill other grasses. I spray in the evenings (even late as 8/8:15) when the temperatures are a bit cooler. We've had no issues. This stuff works!

**Q: how come this is $12 more expensive than the exact thing at home centers?**
A: Must've been 2020 Covid supply chain issues, because in 2023 it's the same price here as at the big box.
