When you put your laptop on top of the device, you can hardly see the lights underneath the laptop. I don't find it to be any problem. **Q: Is the plastic made from PVC material, in other words, does it have a plastic smell?** A: I ordered it on April 22, 2020. And work awesome. It does not have any kind of smell, mostly metal body. **Q: which direction turns the fans up?** A: If you have the switches at the back, facing away from you, clockwise turns the fans up, counter-clockwise turns them down and then off. **Q: fan RPM can control it ? like low mid full speed keys ?** A: The fan speed is controlled by two manual spin dials on the back of the cooling pad.
