I purchased this in June for the raccoon problem we began to have. Living in the country nearly 18 years raccoons had never been a problem. The end of May, early June they came out of no where. I have a lot of bird feeders & they love the food but we didn’t love them! :) This cage was a life saver for the amount of raccoons that began to appear come darkness. Even after taking all my feeders down at night they would enjoy the food on the ground & began to majorly dig out grass.ENTER: this fabulous cage. The pictures I posted shows all the features of the cage. A variety of both doors being open to set the trap, the doors being shut, the hole they climb through to get out, the small latch on both side which would be tripped upon stepping on the bar in the middle. Now these pictures I took after capturing at least 15 raccoons. This was the biggest & most valuable investment we made & got rid of the entire family of raccoons. I watched some videos on how to capture & the 2 key elements are marshmallows & tuna fish. Raccoons love both~especially the marshmallows. You want to keep them in there long enough to step on the bar in the middle which would close the doors. Some were tricky & somehow got a couple marshmallows without the door closing but we then purchased the very small marshmallows which kept them in the cage longer. My husband had no problem transporting them. We had all sizes & even the largest one wiggled it’s way out the door. Not once did one have trouble getting out because they wanted out. The cage is extremely sturdy & extremely durable. As you can see the pictures went through at least 15 captures & it’s still in excellent condition. I can’t stress enough nor thank Havahart enough for making a cage that truly does what it’s suppose to do. It surely will be ready for more in years to come because that’s how long I think it will last. The raccoons do dig in the grass/dirt area in trying to get out so the only maintenance after capturing one would be getting all the dirt & mud from under the bar/trigger in the middle to set it up for the next night. It’s best to test it out before leaving it for the night. Set it up & then trip it to make sure both doors close. Even a little bit of dirt that got crammed up inside the bar trigger could prevent it from closing. So that’s my story on this awesome cage. If you have a similar problem I recommend this 100%!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest trap ever! *by L***E on Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2021* This thing is awesome, I’ve caught 6 squirrels in it already. I even caught 2 w/o baiting the trap, (but setting the spring) lol. You have to place it we’re you want it w/o setting it for several days so, the beast get used to it. Then bait & set it. Be patient, you have to learn how to mount ur bait b4 you get good at it. I was amazed at how well it worked. I let the squirrels go at a park that hade a lake. Supposed to be a Havahart groundhog trap. No instructions. How do the animals get in? Where do I put the bait? Do I prop it up with a stick and put the bait under?
