The original color fades away but it's normal on all aluminum products. It seems to be a solid, sturdy, good quality caldero but it has a lot to be desired aesthetically. After hand washing and oiling (to removes stickers on side and bottom of product) I was not able to remove streaks throughout the caldero and its lid (see photos) It seems like they were created during the pouring process of the cast aluminum so the streaks will be there permanently. I do not plan to return this caldero however as it seems to be of good quality (like the one my mom had when I grew up).
