My boat is 24 volts. I hooked one up and immediately it started to smoke and burnt out. I hooked the other one up to a 12 volt battery and it worked perfectly. These lights are not for 24 volts. They matched old screw holes, and with a little silicone sealant and new screws they are well fastened. It probably said this in the instructions, but make sure you install it the correct way with the LED's facing out the first time. I installed one where the LED was actually facing the inside of the metal cover. Easy fix, and honestly that was the only hassle I had.
