It’s “firm control” is indicated to be level 2 out of 3. I found the compression to be minimal and would describe it as a level 1. They are very comfortable, prevent thigh chafing, and smooth out the hips and backside under a thin dress. There wasn’t much of a butt lift but it certainly didn’t minimize the backside. It didn’t hold in my tummy- I noticed no difference with or without the shapewear. It was very easy to breathe in and was exceptionally comfortable. Overall I found it to provide smoothing only. The size chart goes off of dress size and hip measurements. Based on that I ordered a 2x which is the size that I would have expected to order. I don’t think that a size smaller would have provided much more smoothing since the fabric is lightweight. I’d also worry about rolling if I sized down. Unfortunately, now that I'm past menopause, I was foolish enough to gain a little weight. I mean a little - about 10 - 15 lb. and Lord above, where it landed is just MEAN. Anyway, I wanted to give this a try to see if I can get that new little roll at the top of my hips to calm down or smooth down or whatever this garment might do to help. Overall, it's super comfortable, without rolling. I like a high waisted garment, and this does stretch up high, and fits firmly without been too tight all the way down. Love it. And that new addition to the lower belly/hip area is still there but much more understated. Super pleased. When Prime Day rolls through, I'll seriously consider getting a 2nd one. I have a big event coming up (son's wedding). I'm trying to just lose that weight but as any post meno woman will confirm: It goes on a WHOLE lot easier than it comes off. Love it.
