The instructions aren't very clear; I think they've been translated into English, however once you get it set up, with the door sensors, everything works well. I liked how you can configure the type of alarm you want to sound (for instance it can be used as an automatic doorbell) I set it to sound an alarm, which is very loud, certainly enough to scare off any unwanted visitors, and wake you up in the process if you're sleeping!
