## Description

Lust is the first true one-part marine spar varnish that lets you finish any varnish job faster because you can apply multiple coats in one day - without sanding between coats. It cures to a warm, rich, clear amber tone with a high gloss or matte finish that looks spectacular on all types of interior and exterior marine and household wood, including teak brightwork, toe rails, hand rails, trim, doors, cabinets, outdoor patio furniture, bar tops, tabletops, and more. This marine varnish is truly an exciting innovation because you can recoat Lust in as little as 1 hour at 72 degrees F, ultimately applying up to 5 coats in one day! You can't do that with traditional marine varnishes that require tedious sanding between coats, and that have a thin film build requiring 10 or more coats. **Q: Is the matte finish truly matte or does it have some degree of sheen?**
A: Good Afternoon, this is a true matte finish, you do need to stir thoroughly to mix the flattening agent. Thank you.

**Q: Can I use mineral spirits to thin for brush application instead of xylene? I read that it's thick and I have mineral spirits on hand.**
A: I used mineral spirits with no problem, dry time was slightly longer but no noticeable issues in my opinion (I am not a professional or the producer)

**Q: Has anyone used this on exterior log posts on a log home?  Will it peel off later?**
A: I have used this product on a wood cabinet on a boat. I placed 8 coats of this varnish on the cabinet. The varnish is holding up very well. It is not peeling during the last 3 months.

**Q: How well would it cover dry oil paint?**
A: I don't know.  I think the condition of the paint would matter.  Smooth, rough, cracked, peeling.  I would contact the manufacturer customer service.  I had some questions when doing my project and found them very helpful.  I put the varnish on over their marine epoxy, which was over oil paint and had no trouble with it.  Again, their customer service is a better source of info.

It's rather forgiving to small mistakes (in contrary to, say, Gleam). It can be re-coated in 1 hour, doesn't need a sanding as long as the varnish doesn't set completely (then it might need sanding), is OK with low temperature and doesn't bubble excessively on hot surface. So a cockpit table can be completed in one day. I don't have much to say about protection yet (just 6 months after varnishing).

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thin this product

I would consider myself an expert with a brush so that's the first factor. It thinned the gloss 50-50 for the first 3-4 coats. I used Pettit brushing thinner because I ran up to West Marine after I decided not to spray my doors. I continued with about 8 more coats with 25% thinner. 90 degrees in the shade. Product flowed well and didn't "gator" when I thought it should have. I sanded on time to level then two coats of satin with 25% thin. I now see why they want you to build with gloss and topcoat with satin. It did "gator" on a second coat. Not enough for me to sand it out and it is on my house, not the boat. Overall, wetedge and flow were great. I put three to four coats per day with maybe 1.5 hours between. Sanded great and looked gorgeous in gloss and satin. Use to use Awlgrip spar and thought I would try this at 1/2 the price and available.
