オリジナルとスタンダードを知る為に抜群の一冊。時代に流れない「男」らしさを渇望する人たちへ。

表紙写真。記憶ではケーリー・グラント主演ヒッチコック作品「北北西に進路を取れ」のプレス写真の1部のはず。主演のケーリー・グラントが椅子の袖に寄りかかりポージング。スーツの袖からは肘を曲げたせいでフレンチ・カフがおよそ２ｃｍ～３ｃｍ出ており、透明なカフ・リンクスを留めている。首元はロング・ポイント・カラーのシャツにカラー・バーでカラーを留めている。クラバットはニットだろうか。何故、この写真なのだろうか。つまり、スーツ・スタイリングの恐らく一番大事な部分を強調したかったのではないか。アラン・フラッサー氏といえば、もう一つの有名な書物がある。しかし、この著作は更に細かく、パーツ、パーツで明確に具体的に男のスーツ・スタイリングのルールを示していく。曰く「～はこうでなければならない。」男がオフィシャルな場面でドレッシーに、着飾る、とはどういうことなのか。大人の男のスーツ・スタイリングとはどういうことなのか。数年の歴史を経て、男のスーツ・スタイリングの完成型を示した30年代～40年代。日本人の無様な体型ですら、カバー出来る美しいスーツ・スタイリングとは。色々な疑問を、クリアに潔く、この書物は解決してくれる。若者には到底、理解不能だろう。それで、いい。大人の男がバイブルとして持てばいい。
