For this reason the Deluxe system is much better and easier to use over and over again. **Q: would a six year old into arts and crafts be able to use this?** A: Thank you for your inquiry! I’m happy to answer that for you. Many six year olds enjoy creating with Pix Perfect’s Pixel Art Kit. The child shown creating in one of our product photos was 6 years old at the time. He had never crafted before and enjoyed inserting the pegs into the panel and then arranging the sequin pixels to create his design. He just needed someone to show him how to insert the first peg correctly (which is in the instructions). He intently worked for an hour and a half to complete his creation and he beamed with pride when he was done. He loved how his creation came to life and couldn’t wait to hang it on the wall! He has also changed his design once on his own request (which took him less time than his first creation since the pegs were already inserted). I would say that if your child is crafty, then I would expect that you would have the same positive experience. Other less-crafty children at this age may want to skip the “set-up” time it takes to insert the pegs and skip right to the step of arranging the pixels to create this design. In this instance, I have seen the parents help with this step which then turned the process into a nice, joint activity. Sometimes the parents enjoy Pix Perfect so much they even end up purchasing a kit for themselves! At the end of the day, the young child will need assistance with mounting the panel to the canvas, since a screwdriver and screws are involved. **Q: Does this require batteries?** A: No; batteries are not required. This is a very good question though. Reason being: The sequin pixels hang from the pegs and will shimmer and sway if there is a subtle breeze nearby (i.e. from a fan or vent.) This, as well as natural sunlight can make the pixels appear to be lit up from within. However, this effect is just the result of the holographic pixels reflecting light. It can be quite a beautiful effect and almost look like LED lights! **Q: Can you buy the black panels outside of the kit? It was shipped very quickly. I had been contemplating getting a kit for several months due to some Facebook posts I saw from a Comic Con event. The creations were so unique and brought characters into a sparkly light. I especially loved the one of the Joker that was explained used several connected kits to get such a large and detailed image. I decided to get a set and try it out. The kit comes with several ideas (sort of like a Light Bright , if you are old enough to remember the fun of those!!) You put various colors of sequins onto pegs based on a pattern from a 24x24 pixel image. I was able to locate several more cool designs online by searching '24 x24 pixel images.' It is so fun to see what I can create using this set. And since it is can be reused, I can change it up whenever I want a new look, if I don't like the way a design looks on the wall, or just for fun. It comes with plenty of colors of sequins. I'm never stuck (like glue) to only keeping my first design! I think that what I love most is that it is changeable and adds bling to my wall which is a HUGE conversation piece!!
