After sharpening it and mounting it in a tsuka handle it made a very nice katana for practice and I won’t cry any tears if it gets bent or broken. The blade is well formed, very straight and very well polished. It was not difficult at all to get the blade razor shaving sharp. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Troubles where expected *by T***D on October 10, 2024* This is not my first sword making rodeo. I have been through different sword vendors for sword blanks and I’ve had my eye on this vendor from Amazon for a while now but this is my first purchase. The box came exceptionally packaged and care was obviously given. The entire blank is incased in two layers of wood for both the blade and handle. This makes for good packaging but also can be turned into a fictional handle and sheath if your project deems it so. All this being said the pretty dark red and black swirls that make up the blade is only a surface level thing. You must be aware that these things scuff easy regardless of the seller. Anytime a blade is colored or has smooth designs it will scuff easy and there is nothing a seller/maker can do about this. It is simply the nature of how they’re made. The blade was definitely harden to some sort of degree, but I would not place my life on it. When I got my blade the wood handle was stuck too tight for it to just slide off which meant it had to be cracked open to release the full blade. This happened because there is a plastic wrap that incases the blade before the handle and sheath are pressed on. This wasted that material I could’ve used for the handle. That being said this is still the only katana blank seller on Amazon and is the only option for katana makers. I do not blame the seller for the hardship of the blade but if you are a serious builder looking for top quality you won’t find it here. These blanks make good art swords or display swords.
