At least the two I bought do, I bought two bikes at different times and they both have coaster brakes as well as a handbrake for the front wheel. Both bikes are the smallest size, I think 12", so maybe the larger versions don't. Both of the twins love them and use only the coaster brakes so far. **Q: Has anyone found this bike to be too heavy for their child?** A: Yes bike is way too heavy for my 5 year old. Purchased it in 2020 for his 4th birthday. He’s about to turn 6 and it’s still too heavy for him. Our son is very skinny not sure if that matters but he does really good with everything else— scooters, roller skates, skateboard. My kid is 4 and weights 34 lbs and the bike is 21lbs. Carrying this thing is crazy heavy. He has fallen and all that weight on him is too much.
