The roots are very slightly lighter blond but I have a lot of grays and it is normal. With darker colors, it will probably be more uniform at the root area. Best part was, not having to put vaseline to avoid marks on my skin. This product does not stain the skin. It does not have a very heavy smell. And it did not cause any burn or discomfort on my scalp. My hair feels very nice and soft. It is a big bottle, it will go a long way. Mine is light honey color and it is a very nice tone. My hair was slightly darker blonde before I applied. This is the first time I used a shampoo hair dye and I`m so glad I did. Hair dying at home will not be a torture any more. I hope it will last after some shampoo washing. I`m sharing a few pictures, color and hair looks better in person. I`m very pleased.
