But before I can transplant, I needed to start some seeds. I purchased some small cups with holes in the bottom and a plastic cover with holes to help hold in moisture. I add the Espoma Organic Raised Bed Mix, lightly watered, made a hole in the middle of the soil and put in seeds. I started watermelon, cantaloupe, kale, collards, mini bell peppers, strawberries and cucumber. In one cup, I put the bottom of a stalk of celery. Every single seed has sprouted and growing very well. Even the celery has a bunch of green leaves in the center. I purchased the soil specifically because buying all the items needed to have good soil is expensive. This soil has everything you need to ensure your garden has a good start. The only downside is the cost. But like I said buying everything separate costs more and it would sit in storage during the summer.
