It has some noise on high. I like the ability to have a low profile fan in my window at night. It came with various sizes of foam blocks to make up the difference it window width. That was nice. I also like the manual controls. I have added a security device so the window can’t be opened with the fan removed. It is a little expensive but not as expensive as the Transom - I have both and find the electronic controls unnecessary and not worth the price. I didn’t find the Portal until after purchasing two Transom fans. As to clicking mentioned in other reviews; my fans have had no issues after 3 months of near continuous use. (I have mine mounted vertically so yes they can be used that way.
