The Ape Case ACPROLC18 is a professional-grade large lens case designed to securely fit and protect Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 lenses with attached hoods and collars. ## Description

ACPROLC18 Ape Case Professional Large Lens Case is a strong and versatile way to store and carry your precious DSLR Lens and is made with the high quality materials and craftsmanship you have come to expect from Ape Case. This Pro Lens Case is designed to hold most modern 300-2.8 lenses. (please check interior case dimensions closely against your lens' measurements) The ACPROLC18 is fully padded and features an extra, removable interior base pad for even more protection on the case bottom where you need it the most. This Pro Lens Case can be carried with the supplied shoulder strap, or by hand with top loop handle. There is also a uniquely designed belt/loop attachment system that has a standard-type sewn-in 3.5-Inch loop for belt attachment, plus a stiff hinged openable and closeable Velcro clasp-type "attatcher" that can be used on a belt or used to attach to another case that has a loop (like our ACPRO1800, ACPRO1900, ACPRO2000 or ACPRO4000). The top opening is generously sized for easy lens retrieval. The dual zippers are joined together with a zipper pull that allows you to zip or unzip both zippers simultaneously gaining quick lid opening access. The lid is also secured with an adjustable quick release clasp. All together, the lid system allows for secure closure, yet quick and easy access. There is a slim pocket on the front of the case under the lid to hold memory cards. The case also features Ape Case's signature "black on the outside yellow on the inside" color scheme. The Hi-Vis Yellow interior makes seeing what is in your case a breeze.

Review: It fits! It fits! - Nikon 200-500mm w/ reversed hood & lens foot - Finally, after trying several lower priced, but very nicely design lens cases found on desertcart, the Ape Case fully fits the Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 super telephoto lens. The other brands were too small. They had nice handles, zippers, pouches, etc. But none can carry all the attachments with the Nikon 200-500 lens. I've always had hesitations on Ape Case camera bag designs and still have a few objections with this lens case design. But bottom line is this fits my hard to fit lens at a moderate price. There's 2 other brands that are $20 to $110 more than the Ape Case. But I can stop looking. What I like: + Nikon 200-500mm lens with reversed lens hood and lens collar/foot slides in/out smoothly. (Being nearly square accommodates the lens foot that circular cases can't handle!) + Plenty of padding on the bottom and around the sides. + Wide belt loop. (But it's so wide, to use as carry handle or attach to camera bag/backpack.) + Bright yellow interior lets you see what's inside. + Nicely padded shoulder strap. What can be improved: - Top flap needs the buckle to secure. Pulling on the flap unzips the twin zippers to quickly access the lens. (Hook & loop should be added for extra security.) - Buckle not intuitive. You press down on the face of the buckle, which can be undone if you bang into something. (All conventional buckles squeeze from the sides.) - Need to be pull the top flap forward to gentle pull on the strap joining the twin zippers to close the case. (A conventional flip top with single zipper would be better.) - Top carry handle/strap is too narrow allowing only use with 2-3 fingers. (Should be bit longer and sewn further apart for a better grasp. Hence the belt loop makes a better carry handle.) - Belt loop hook & loop tabs are small and can undo. (Longer tabs would be more secure.) - 2 small pouches can only carry memory cards. (Better to have a pouch for lens filters or cleaning cloth as most other brands.) - Longevity of the zipper pulls, buckle, flap. (Material quality is good though.)
Review: If You Need To Save Space This Case Is For You! - Purchased this case to take my Nikon D500 with 200-500mm(with foot attached) with me when backpacking. There is no wasted space either; the camera/lens combo just fits! The case adds little bulk and lets me get the camera/lens combo into the backpack while providing protection from the packs contents. Perfect for the purpose intended. All you need is the extra large pack! A great little case that offers moderate protect but provides dividends in space savings. Its well constructed but not amazing and has ample attachment points if one needs to get creative.

Finally, after trying several lower priced, but very nicely design lens cases found on Amazon, the Ape Case fully fits the Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 super telephoto lens. The other brands were too small.
