It feels thick while standing on it and it absorbs water very well. I have not washed it yet since I just received it but I feel like it will hold up in the washer and I'm hoping the color does not fade. The backing doesn't look like it would prevent non-slipping but it sticks well on ceramic flooring. The rug came folded in a sealed, tight bag which made it appear like it wouldn't be as thick, but upon opening and laying out on the floor, it's just perfect.
