They are a different texture to chalk pastels . I use all sorts of brands of oil pastels. The sennelier ones are by far the most creamy and soft it's like painting with lipstick . I also use silicone blenders - the type like a paintbrush with a silicone pointy or square tip . I hope this helps. **Q: Are these full size? I notice someone in the reviews says they are very small and product info says “introduction...”** A: These are normal size. You can get very large ones but limit colours. **Q: Can you tell me if these pastels contain any animal derived ingredients? I cant find any info anywhere about this brands ingredients at all** A: Hi as far as I am aware there aren't any animal products in these pastels they are pigment and linseed oil, I think.
