They were served with a dipping sauce that was sweet and hot at the same time and really worked well with the dumplings. I was hoping I could find something similar for home use. I ordered this and I have to say, I tried it once and was totally disgusted by the taste. I threw the whole bottle out. That's not to say there was anything wrong with it, I just did not like it. I also did not like the consistency of it. It was not watery like the one I had in DC or like soy sauce. It had a thicker - almost like catsup but it was also kind of a dry gritty feeling and tasted nothing like what I thought the ingredients should taste like.
