Mine weighs 1 lb 14.5 oz which is not heavy enough to keep it steady when using one hand to rip a towel off. Especially because....- This towel dispenser slides too easily on the counter top (granite, formica, whatever). The base of this paper towel dispenser consists of 4 small metal spheres brazed to the bottom of the base. There is no adhesive or stick-em or any sort of anti-slide stuff on the spheres. It can easily be pushed off the counter top because the metal spheres slide easily across the counter top. A one-handed towel rip will easily launch this holder off the counter top because it is too light weight and because is slides too easily.CONCLUSION:This paper towel dispenser REQUIRES a two-handed rip unless you can place it between two fixed, heavy items on your counter top to keep it from moving. We use the select-a-size towels. With other designs just pulling off one segment often tears off the perforation. But with this gem just put one palm on the top of the holder and with the other hand pull out to align the perforation with the lowest swirl ... it's perfectly positioned to tear off the paper towel on the perforation.
